Anthurium with Accordions
One of the things that’s especially magic about Anthurium is how their leaves start out very red and become green as they mature. As large as the leaves on this plant* grow (two feet!), they’re also infrequent – this is only his third. So when I saw it forming, I set my trusty PlantCam on it and waited. What you see here is a week of growth, one photo every 5 minutes during daylight.
*This plant was sold as Anthurium crystallinum, but I think it’s really Anthurium magnificum because of the velvety leaves and square stems.
