Plantgasm - I love plants too much. By Derek Powazek.

Resurrection Plant Unfurls

The Resurrection Plant (Selaginella lepidophylla) is more science experiment than actual gardening. It’s a desert plant that evolved to be able to withstand long periods without water, during which it curls up into a ball. At the first sign of water, it unfurls and turns from brown to green in a couple hours. It’s amazing. Wanna see?

Update: Since several people asked, I got this plant at Paxton Gate here in San Francisco, but you can find them online, too. I’ve had good experiences buying from Logee’s.

Mine never survived, It unfurled and stayed brown!
Where did you get it? I love the container it is in.

Really nice, I’ve seen these around before but never tried one. Maybe this spring will be the time to give it a try.

I also really like all your time lapse videos as well, hope to see more of them.
