Garden Links for 27 June 2011
We read the botanical web so you don’t have to. In this edition, plant people are awesome.
- The Pitcher Plant Project: BAPP | Plantgasm Gardens
I had a few people over this weekend for what we’re casually calling “BAPP!” (Bay Area Plant People) to drink beer and talk plants. And it reaffirmed my belief that people who like plants are people I like to hang out with. Rob’s photos are awesome, and give you a good idea of what’s growing at my house right now.
- Invisible Oranges: Interview: Phyte Club
Katie from Phyte Club was unable to make it to BAPP this time, so read this enlightening interview with her instead. Botany and head-banging go together better than you think. Also, Katie is now leading botanical tours in the bay area. You should totally hire her.
- Davis Garden Show
Matti from Far Out Flora turned me on to this podcast, and I’ve been listening ever since. It’s hosted by Don Shor from Redwood Barn Nursery and it’s basically a weekly gardening Q&A session. It’s like invisibly hanging out by the counter of a local nursery and eavesdropping on the conversation. Even if your climate is not the same as Davis, California, where the show is recorded, it’s still chock full of amazing information. I’ve learned so much listening to it already.
